EARTH DAY EVENT: SNOQUALMIE RIVER RESTORATION WITH STEWARDSHIP PARTNERS
Friday April 22, 2021 12pm-4pm
Where: Aronica/Robertson Farm, Near West Snoqualmie Valley Road (address and directions provided on registration)
What: Celebrate Earth Day with LLTK and Stewardship Partners by restoring critical salmon habitat on a unique family farm along the Snoqualmie River in the scenic Snoqualmie Valley. Today we’ll remove invasive plant species and install native trees and shrubs to enhance salmon habitat and restore the riverbank of this 80-acre farm. This project site is on rough terrain and near the Snoqualmie River. Due to these factors, volunteers must be ages 14 and up.
How to prepare: Due to COVID-19 our usual event routine has been altered a bit. Masks are suggested and fully vaccinated participants are highly encouraged although we won’t be checking vaccination cards. We will not supply shared items, refreshments or lunch so bring your own water bottle (full), coffee, snacks, lunch. We will have water onsite as well as hand washing and sanitizing stations. We will supply gloves (bring your own if you can), tools (you’ll be assigned one tool and expected to only use that one throughout the day), supervision and an overview of the work you will be doing. We suggest that you dress in layers that include long pants, long sleeve shirt and a jacket. Sturdy footwear such as work boots, mud boots, hiking boots or running shoes are recommended. Please come prepared for the weather by bringing rain gear if you have it and older clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty or muddy.
The Snoqualmie Valley is the ancestral territory of the Snoqualmie Tribe, and we encourage volunteers to learn more about honoring the land and the Tribe’s historical and current stewardship through the Snoqualmie Tribe Ancestral Lands Movement.
