Leah Hair co-founded the first pioneering organization to resolve complex, multi-party environmental and regulatory conflicts in the United States. She later consulted in the area of business, environment and sustainable development.
She served as a Senior Fellow at the World Resources Institute. As a Peace Corps Volunteer, she worked in education and development in Northern Nigeria and central Ghana. During her late husband’s tenure as president of the IUCN/World Conservation Union, she traveled widely in support of the Union’s work promoting conservation and sustainable development.
Ms. Hair has served on a number of boards and civic committees, including The Keystone Center, Global Partnerships, and the Foundation Board of Seattle Central Community College. She recently completed a decade on the board of the Wild Salmon Center and continues to serve on the Leadership Council of the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies. Leah received her BA from Stanford University and her MFS from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. She’s the proud mother of two sons and grandmother of four.
