In Memoriam: Board Member Peter Grimm
We are sad to report that our friend and devoted member of the Long Live the Kings (LLTK) Board of Directors, Peter Grimm, has passed away after a prolonged illness. He was 63 years old.
“Peter was a multi-talented guy……a perfect combination of head, heart and hands,” said Board Chairman Jim Youngren, who served on the LLTK Board with Peter for more than 19 years.
Peter was Director of the Prostate Cancer Treatment Center, here in Seattle. Among the world’s leading prostate-cancer specialists, he was a pioneer in prostate seed implantation for the treatment of the disease. He organized numerous education programs and trained more than 6,000 physicians in seed implantation. He was also lead editor of The Prostate Cancer Treatment Book, published by McGraw-Hill.
“One friend of mine, who lives in Nashville and was Emmylou Harris’s road manager, did a worldwide search for the best doctor to treat his prostate cancer and he decided it was Peter Grimm,” said Jim. “Phil credits Peter for saving his life.”
In addition to his considerable professional accomplishments, over the past 10 years Peter released more than three million wild salmon fry from his property on Hood Canal.
All of us at LLTK are thankful to Peter for his service on the Board, his participation on the Event and Communications Committees, and his commitment to Northwest salmon. We send our deepest condolences to his family.
